How do you convert IGES or STEP to DWG?
I have IGES of one model and IGES and STEP of another.
My 3D skills are basic, so I want to transfer them to 2D in AutoCAD then dimension.
I recall SOLPROF can be used on a 3D model to give 2D views. Can you tell I haven't used ACAD in anger for a while?
I have Inventor 7 and ACAD 2009.
Thanks in advance,
J.

You can do the conversion in Inventor or free Inventor Fusion http://labs.autodesk.com or in AutoCAD 2013.

I downloaded Inventor Fusion. Only seemed to give me a DWG option, not version related.
I then tried to open the DWG in my AutoCAD 2009. Couldn't do it, needed to download TrueView.
I downloaded TrueView 2011, following the links from AutoCAD 2009. Tried to open the file, said "The file could not be opened as it was created with a more recent version of DWG TrueView.

Isn't there a more recent free release of TrueView (2013?) for converting files?
What about saving as 2010 dwg to convert in TrueView 2011?
What about saving as ACIS (*.sat) or *.dxf directly and then opening directly in AutoCAD 2009?

Is this the same link that AutoCAD 2009 sent you to?

What about using Inventor 7 and saving as dwg solid?

How about posting your files here
http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/AutoCAD-2013/bd-p/70
or here
http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Autodesk-Inventor/bd
and asking someone to do the conversion to 2007 format for you?
That solution would require almost zero effort.
Sleep well, sweet dreams.
