    I reproduced it by just opening a file with a composite 3D solid, and doing some subselections of solids (including Fillets, which cause AutoCAD to go bonkers).

    After that, it happens in any file opened in that session.

    Hmm, that makes it particularly nasty. People will test their stuff, it will work fine, they will distribute it, then it will start failing randomly and inconsistently in use. Ugh.
