Pull-down menus gone?

I don't have some of the pull-down menus I once used, such as Tools,
Dimension, Modify, and Draw. Are these no longer part of AutoCAD, or do I
just have a bad installation?

Of these, only two have corresponding tool bars.

I've noticed that I can turn on some of the others under the Window
pull-down, such as design. The four I mention above are not part of that
option.

If ADesk has discontinued these pull-downs, their manual needs updating.
Help says that Draworder, for instance, can be found under the Tools menu.

They are part of 2006. Sounds like a CUI issue. Go into CUI and see if you
can add them. Also check your other workspaces.

Brad,

Thank for the cue. I've found one Profile that does have the missing
pull-down menus, so I knew that the menus existed on my machine. With the
CUI interface, I Transferred the missing menus to both the ADT.cui and the
"all customization files." Neither move made them show up in my profile.
What am I missing?

TIA

You need to turn on the menus in your workspace. You do this by going into the CUI and clicking on your workspace, then customize workspace. When you expand the menus in the left pane, you will see the menus used in your workspace. Just enable the ones you need. Then click the done button, then apply, then ok. They should be there now. I've tried that, without success. I'm sure this workspace thing will be
great, but it is not very easy so far. Makes me feel old.

I was able to gain the missing pull-downs by reloading ADT.cui manually
(menu command) without losing any custom settings in my profile. I'm not
sure why, but I'm just going to backup everything and move on.

Thanks for your help.

I guess that I should ask if you have created your own workspace instead of using the autocad default. If you haven't created one then you really should and set it to current. This is the workspace that you customize for all of your workspace settings. Ron

This guy is using ADT. ADT has several pull-down menu options and is not by
deualt the same as standard AutoCAD. If you are using ADT as standard
AutoCAD it is desirable to have a separate profile to load it in that mode
with the standard AutoCAD menu - rather than messing with the ADT menu
structure. The ADT instalkl gives an option of creating a desktop icon to
make ADT run in AutoCAD mode.
