MText Dialog Box Background Color

My MText box has a black background and I'd like to change it to white. Interestingly, if I change my Model Tab background from black to white my Mtext box changes to white with black text. How can I just change the black background to white while leaving my Model tab black? The text is very legible.
Additionally, the Text Formatting bar comes up separate from the ruler and dialog box, they are not connected. I can move the format bar around or the dialog box around. I thought the format bar and dialog box were one.
Thank you

Your choices to change screen colors are only in one spot, if you don't see
an entry for a category you want, it does not exist.

Turn off font smoothing in Windows Display should help.

Format bar and Mtext are part of the oldeditor, not the default internal
one: are you looking for MTEXTED variable?

If I set the pathwat in MTEXTED to my MSword executable file will it then
let me use word as an editor for text? Including the functionality of
formatting and bullets?

You can do that to use MSWord.

No, you cannot bring in content not already found in Mtext in your version
of AutoCAD.
