When I move a detail complete with dimensions from one location on my drawing to another location, one or two dimensions remain in their original location and the extension line extends to the new location.
DIMASSOC attaches dimensions to nodes you clicked on when dimensioning: if you don't move those nodes those dimensions tend to stay tied to those locations even though you moved everything else. Is that what is happening here?
By moving the object the dimension is attached to... or you could disassociate the dimension with DIMDISASSOCIATE command (look up usage in HELP) before moving.
