option to run R2006.
Autodesk is only going to take steps to make R2010 Win7 compliant.
I did the following: right click on the AutoCAD 2006 icon, click on "Troubleshoot compatibility", click on "Try recommended settings". You will probably get "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)". Click on "Start the Program".
Thanks again, Milt
Okay I recently HAD to upgrade from XP to Windows 7. Knowing that I would have to reinstall all programs, I took the plunge and now GRRRR!
I first installed ADT 2006, wouldn't open at all. Then I found this thread about the XP compatibility so I removed the program and everything concerning it and reinstalled. Still wouldn't open as it was looking for these specific dll files. I then went to the compatibility option and it opened, sorta. It did say THIS PROGRAM HAS KNOWN COMPATIBILITY ISSUES.
So continueing on...it opened up and then immediately told me that the customization file 'ADT.cui' failed to load. I hit okay and it continued loading.
After loading, I noticed that all of my tool bars, etc. across the top that I always previously had are not there, further, the main menu bar was reduced to File, View, Window, Help is all there is. There is no right click available, no nothing.
What do I do? I can't believe that Autodesk is going to leave us hung out to dry.
going to happen.
As for your error and missing menus, try the menuload command and browse
to where ever adt.cui is located and load that.
That might bring back your missing toolbars/menus.
"The service pack could not be installed because the expected Autodesk product could not be located on your computer. Make sure that you are using the correct service pack for the product."
Any ideas on how to fix that?
I have downloaded Autocad 2006 into Windows 7 using xp mode. It works but the drafting selection crosshair is superimposed with the typical mouse pointer of windows. The crosshair follows the mouse pointer. Any words of advice or suggestions?
I just ran into the exact same problem. Installed AutoCAD 2006 under Virtual XP mode on my Windows 7 computer, opened AutoCAD and the mouse pointer follows the cross-hairs.
This happens with both my Logitec mouse and the Touchpad on the computer.
Hopefully someone has a solution.
