F key toggles and mouse movement

I have an odd problem with one of my users - when he toggles an F key item on or off (Ortho, Osnap, etc.) the toggle does not engage until he moves his mouse.

Let me try and give a more visual picture. He hits the F3 button and, for most of us, if you are looking at your toggle bar at below your command line, you would see the Osnap button engage/disengage. His does not. Until he put his hand on his mouse and moves it in anyway - then, all of a sudden, you will see the toggle button engage/disengage. It's one of the strangest things I've seen, and I haven't been able to find any other remarks on this issue.

    Any suggestions?
    (Specs, WinXP Pro, AutoCAD 2006)

    Thanks -

    Susan

Is this a stock wired mouse/keyboard combo, or some special
    wireless setup?

Stock wired mouse/keyboard, and the same ones that I have on 90% of all of my other computers in the office.

Is the mouse cursor off-screen, or hovering over the Windows
    Taskbar?

Is it just a case of the AutoCAD window not being active? As
in another application stole Windows 'attention'?

Nope - I watched over his shoulder while he did it - he was in AutoCAD, the mouse crosshairs were in the middle of the screen, and he was definitely engaged with AutoCAD.

Mine does it too. It doesn't matter if the cursor is in the middle of the screen or off the edge.
