Is there a program to edit the file info directly...using the Sheet Set Manager is a pain in the butt...for small jobs its fine but I have these projects that are 1700+ sheets.
If there is a program or a way to edit it let me know please. IF there isnt Autodesk needs to allow this. It would Be sooo much more time saving if we could use a find replace option to rename sheets and at other info in there quickly.

I think that there is more to it than just editing the DST file. Have you ever tried to "Import Layout As Sheet" and noticed the message warning that this layout is or may be part of an existing sheet set? At least some of the Sheet Set info seems like it is being saved in the drawing.
What is nice about the SSM is that more than one user can open the Sheet Set and work on files.

I agree!
Presently the Sheet Set Manager doesn't even allow us to Edit Custom Properties, but only Add or Delete them!
That's a pain!
DST files are just databases so WHY can't we have an external stand-alone editor to edit DST files with?!?!
Autodesk, are you listening? :-)
What good reason for not providing a stand-alone DST-editor could there possibly be?
Also there should be an allowance for a change in existing DWG filename without loosing the FIELD links to the DST since presently if, after you set up all your FIELDS linked to the Sheet Set values & then change the filename, or SaveAs a new revision (i.e. *_r1.dwg) then that severs the link to the Sheet Set, so there should be an easier way to do this without needing to re-enter each layout/sheet in the SheetSet to point to the new filename... (...or is there an easier way to do this already?) Message was edited by: eldonbach

Because then a person would not need AutoCAD to do this
task, potentially losing a sale for Autodesk.

I agree Autodesk should add a few more features or give the user that ability. Things like "Custom fields" to support unique Subsets information, "Auto sheet numbering" with "autosheet number updating", for when a sheet is inserted or relocated in the drawing set hierarchy. In saying that have the program keep track of total number of drawings in the set no matter how the drawing set is structured. This is not a hard thing to do. They just have to make time to do it. As you well know if it's not a priority it wil not happen until next version. LOL,LOL,LOL,LOL.
