I want to use AutoCAD 2006 to re-create the boundaries for the hatches in the attached drawing....but it crashes whenever I select the hatch.

Do you have the properties palette open? If so turn it off and try to select
the hatch. If that works then go into the properties palette and roll up the
"Geometry" section so that it doesn't show when picking hatch - you'll have
to do this on a bit of "good hatch", but the setting will stay across
drawings

Looks like you have a proxy object from some other software in this drawing. Do you know which program you imported objects from?

That could be, Subhash, but I was able to keep it from crashing and
re-create the hatch boundaries by rolling up the geometry section of the
properties palette

Thanks for the tip. I closed the prop box and no crash.
