import IGES files into ACAD ? igesin command no longer exits?

how can i import an IJES file into autocad ?
the command igesin has gone to where?
whats the good of getting the LATEST cad programs if the commands from older versions get dropped
NO WAY am I going to purchase an extra that should have been part of a complete and expensive package

The IGESIN command was removed from vanilla AutoCAD
several releases ago. Earlier versions (I think R12 was the last) had an IGESIN
that worked with the IGES v4.x spec at the same time that the IGES 5.x spec was
current. At this time Autodesk discontinued built-in support for the obsolete
spec.

FWIW, AutoCAD Mechanical has always included
up-to-date IGES support.

Autodesk sells an IGES translator: visit their online store at
http://www.autodesk.com

Or check out the free choice at http://www.xchangeworks.com
