XREF layers

Posted this yesterday, but no response yet and I'm getting deperate! Tried the knowledge base, but keep getting a script error. Can't freeze xref layers using the layer freeze icon. I can use the dialog box, but this is getting real old real fast. Don't tell me I stumped the panel yesterday. Thanks to any and all. Mike

We use script files for every drawing we have so we dont have to worry
about alot of issues concerning turning layers on/off, freeze in
vports...etc. here is part of a script file that we use, now if you
dont use script files to build your exhibits this may not do you any
good.
Good luck

The freeze layer express tools routine has options. Pick your button, type
'O' at the command line, select entity level, and start pickin' -n- freezin'

I use a utility called PROBE that works
well. The only problem I have is if the
root layer is zero but then it lists the
whole nesting sequence & you can do
those manually.

I don't recall where I found it, here's
the header in the file:

;PROBE gets info about nested entities
at all levels of nesting, to allow you
; to list info about an entity in an
insert without exploding the insert.
; (c) 1993-1995 Terrible Software, Inc.
WDK
; At the request of James Arthur I am
adding a couple of buttons in the
; dialog box. If you pick them they
will turn the layer of the "base entity"

; off or freeze that layer. Thanks for
the suggestion! WDK 18 Feb 95

I can not either.. what it does is freeze the layer that the xref is
inserted on.. I have to open the layers dialog and freeze in there..

Jon,
Check your nesting level. After using the icon, type O for options, and
vary the nesting levels to freeze layers inside the xref.

Oh, that's great!!!!
layfrz or layoff -express tools:

Command: layoff
Select an object on the layer to be turned off or [Options/Undo]:
Layer 0 has been turned off.

wrong I didn't want to turn off 0 but the layer that block inside the xref was
on... so, set it to block rather than entity:

Select an object on the layer to be turned off or [Options/Undo]: o
Enter an option [Block level nesting/No nesting/]: b
Select an object on the layer to be turned off or [Options/Undo]:
Layer _BASE|-G-TXT has been turned off.
