Window selection problem

I have a problem. When i place the first point of a window
,lets say using a move command, and i use a transparent pan command, in the middle of my window selection, so i can include all of the object thats not shown on my current display, well when i pan it seems to reset the first pick point of my window selection to the limits of my viewing area. does anyone else have this problem. very frustrating.
It's hard explaing this stuff.
Thanks in advance

From Acad Help:

You can use almost any command transparently if it
does not select objects, create new objects, cause regenerations, or end the
drawing session. (There are a few other commands, such as 3DORBIT, that you
cannot use transparently.) Changes made in dialog boxes opened transparently do
not take effect until you execute the interrupted command. Similarly, if you
reset a system variable transparently, the new value may not take effect until
you start the next command.

I never encountered that, or considered it a
problem, although I see that it is a problem for you.

thanks for responding doug,
are you saying you are aaware of this error
but it does not bother you. I really only method of selection when i'm working on very large airport maps
which is impossible to select everything acuurately zoomed out.
Thanks

I never had the occasion to use that sequence, so
it never bothered me. But there's a workaround.

Sometimes I will zoom in and 'mark' a point with a
huge circle, which I can easily find when zoomed out, using osnap
cen.

Do this at both corners, and you've got your
window.

Another workaround is to use grips to select the objects first then issue
the command. Just pick a point without issuing a command then depending on
which direction you drag you get a "window" or a "crossing-window". Then
you can zoom in and out as well as pan anywhere to select your other point.
Once all your objects are selected just issue the command (i.e. move, erase,
copy, etc.)

Note: You do have to have PICKFIRST set to 1 inorder to do this.

Get yourself a wheel mouse, not only can you pan and zoom in the middle of a command but when you finish the command you can just hit enter because it doesn't remember "zoom" or "pan" as the last command.

I know. But this doesn't solve anything as the same "bug" exists in that if
you issue a command, then start the selection window, then pan or zoom with
the wheel, autocad only selects the object(s) currrently visible on the
screen.

"bug" in quotes... does this mean WE think it's a bug, but it isn't a bug in
the "authorized buglist"? Does it mean if something is written up as Not
Possible (like this one) before they release the program, it technically
isn't a bug?

Kevin,
Maybe I'm missing somthing, I just opened up a site plan, zoomed way in, started the erase command, picked a point for the first corner of a window and panned around to get the second point and clicked there for that window. Then I just kept on creating selection windows (as many as I wanted) then hit enter. It worked fine erased everything in each window.

I just realized the possible reason for the difference (if there is one)I'm using 2002.

That could be it. I'm using 2000i.

I did that becuase I think it's a bug, but I don't have a clue what adesk
thinks it is.

"Rhots" wrote that it doesn't happen to him/her in 2002.

This happens to me too. Using Acad2000. Happens with Move, Copy, and
Mirror so far. Sequence is zoom in with wheel mouse, start crossing box,
zoom out , then back in (such that original "corner" is now off-screen) and
finish crossing box, complete command ...objects that were entirely
"off-screen" but within crossing box are not included in the selection.
They don't move, copy or mirror.

This has been a problem I've noticed for as long as I've had Acad2000.
