UNICODE turns to gibberish letters/symbols...why?

Question....

We have drawings in AutoCad 2000 that use to display Russian text just fine.
We are using Romans font and the Russian translators have been using romans and Keyboard settings for Russian.

Now instead of unicode in the text strings, letter symbols are displaying.

Any idea of what could cause that?

Thanks,
Tim

We have been wrestling with the same problem. I have been told that while Autocad uses Unicode, it translates the text back using the "locale" setting in your Windows. The text displays correctly if both computers use same locale setting.

This is not the intention of Unicode, seems to me to be typical Autodesk unprofessionalism with the non-english world.
