Relative Coordinates not displayed

Operating with ACAD2000 Mechanical.
When originally installed the relative coordinates were operational. I still have absolute coordinates displayed.
something has caused the relative coords to not function.
Can you direct me to the file that needs to be repaired?

Do you man on the status bar F6 toggles it or clicking (possibly
double-clicking on 2000)

Or do you mean on the cursor, as in with POLAR on and ORTHO off?

Right-click on any toolbar and turn on tooltips.

In AutoCAD 2002 you also need to have your AUTOSNAP Tooltips activated.

Tools... > Options > Drafting Tab > AutoTrack Settings area > Display
AutoTrack Tooltip needs to be checked.

Tracy:
Here is a post from last may of another user with exactly the same problem.

From: stuart.slater
Date: May/20/02 - 12:00 (GMT)
I have a problem displaying relative co-ordinates in the co-ordinate box
underneath the command line When I right click in the co-ordinate box and
select relative co-ordinates the display changes to relative but as soon as
I move my cursor back into the drawing area it reverts back to absolute. Can
any body help?

I guess since CWB (the original poster of this thread) mentioned AutoCAD
Mechanical 2000 I guess I should have asked if it is up to date on service packs
?

Mechanical Service Pack 3
http://support.autodesk.com/getdoc.asp?id=DL153477

Mechanical Service Pack 4a
http://support.autodesk.com/getdoc.asp?id=DL317506

Note: Mechanical Service Pack 4a is NOT historical; you must have Mechanical
Service Pack 3 or Mechanical Service Pack 4 installed before you install
Mechanical Service Pack 4a. Please refer to the Readme file (mcadsp4a.txt) for
additional information and instructions.

Tracy:
The service packs (3 and 4a) have been installed but they didn't help.
here's what happens:
start a line by selecting the line command then clicking on a start point.
press F6 until relative coords is selected eg: 1.5128<012, 0.000
as soon as the mouse is moved, the coords reverts to absolute.

I had the same exact problem and it was very frustrating to find all these discussion topics but no answer to the problem.

What fixed the problem for me was toggling the AMPSNAPO (Ignore Z coordinate) variable to OFF.

The Problem:

When drawing or editing an object, only the Absolute Coordinates will display. COORDS is set to 2. When drawing a line with the cursor, for example, the first point is picked, but then only the Absolute Coordinates will be displayed for subsequent points. Pressing F6 will toggle the display to the Relative Coordinates mode, but as soon as the cursor is moved, the display will revert to Absolute mode.
