The problem is that everytime I exit autocad and reload it, my customization is gone. The toolbars are loaded in a completely random order. We have some custom menus and toolbars that load from the server, and also have acad.mns load from the server. Support pathes are routed correctly to include the correct folders on the server. All .mns files are loaded from the same folder on the server, and they load every time, but without any changes that I make prior to closing autocad, (i.e.- move object properties toolbar closest to working area, close autocad, open autocad,,,, object properties toolbar in another location)
I am not sure this is clear. Depending on the response(s) I recieve, I will try to clarify.
Our small firm's setup is as follows:
3 individual full release 2002 seats
1 2002 LT seat
All loaded on the individual machines while sharing support files on a server.
from what I understand about the menus, I just did it myself, is edit the .mnu file and load that, it should work. or if you want a different order of things, go to tools - customize menus and remove and then reinsert your menu tags.
Does anyone else have any ideas? Why would my .mnu not be updating? I might have found a work around for the time being,,, but not what I would call a permanent solution. When I have my toolbars the way I want them, I am going to export my profile to file and then load it the next time I open autocad. I will try this and see how it goes. Also, is there a way to create a custom toolbar of the express tools? I only use a few of the express tools from each of the toolbars, the rest is just taking up screen space. All help is appreciated.
For the MNU extension file to re-load, the MNS, MNC and MNR extension files
with the same name need to be removed from AutoCAD's search path.
In full version AutoCAD, not LT, you also have the option of saving to a
profile: perhaps your startup is loading a specific profile that loads with
it a specific menu and settings etc.?
I tried your advice, and I removed the folder from the support path on the server that contained the MNS MNC MNR files. I also exported the profile to file to try and save its settings. After doing this, closed autocad,,reopened autocad. Toolbars in weird orientation AGAIN. So, loaded the profile from file.... Toolbars didn't change, still weird. So I am starting to get even more confused.
What file "remembers" where you have toolbars, and the orientation/makeup of custom toolbars?
I tried that already,, exported to file, reloaded from file,,, stay the same,,, close autocad,,, open, funky, reload,,, still funky,,,, still puzzled, and frustrated.
