LAYERS

How do you transfer a layer to another layer? Like putting all of one layer
into another.

If you have Express Tools, LAYMRG command merges one layer with the next,
combining content:

I use the Express Tool LAYMRG...

You can also use the LAYTRANS tool...

Another method is to use MATCHPROP (check it's settings) and possibly
lock all the other layers...

I've seen people use the Express Tool LAYISO and isloate the objects
that you want to move and then window them all and use one of the methods
below...

Another way would be to select all the objects on a particular layer
and then (with PICKFIRST set to 1) use the Layer Control pulldown and place
them on the desired layer...

You can use a FILTER or QSELECT to help select the object quickly and
also use the Object Properties dialog box to do the same...

CHPROP is the older method...

-CHANGE will also get at object's layer properties...

Don't cha just love having options?

You could also just rename your existing layer. Assuming you want to move
and not copy.

I tried to rename but you cant name a layer the same thing. Like, I have 4
different layers that say "A_WALL_FULL", "A_WALLS_FULL", "A_WALL_FULLS",
and wall I just want to put all of that on one layer. I tried that laymrg
but I cant figure it out. Some one help.

Thank you for any suggestions:}>

A couple of ways: One select all the entities on those layers, then ctrl+1 to pop the PROPERTIES window, look for the layer row in the first column and click on it. Then click on the little down-arrow to the right and scroll down to the layer to which you want everything changed.

Or use the old CHPROP command to select the elements the LA for layer and key-in the layer name you desire.
