Cannot open multiple drawings in 2002

I cannot open more than one drawing at a time in AutoCAD 2002. Is there a
command that may be turned off similar to Filedia or cmddia.

Check what your SDI system varible is set for, also if you are using a
project based vertical (like Land Desktop) that is the way it work, one
drawing at a time.
