Can't copy viewport from clipboard

I am trying to copy a view port from one layout to another in the same drawing but for some reason AutoCAD will not do it. It will copy / paste everything else just not a viewport. Can anyone please tell me why?

Thank You!

You have to activate it. Is there a rectangle instead of the viewport. If so
highlight and change the "on" setting to yes in properties.

It is active and on AutoCAD just ignores it when I try to copy it to the clipboard.
I copied the title block from layout 1 and pasted it into layout 2 then i tried to copy a viewport from layout 3 to layout 1 but when I clicked on the paste icon the title block came in not the viewport

Lesee, is it on layer DEFPOINTS, and layer 0 is frozen?

Try and copy just the viewport and make sure the layer isn't frozen or off
in the new layout. I have to manually activate the NEW viewport when I copy
one from one layout to another.

Tried that to still did the same thing. Its like there is a variable telling AutoCAD to ignore the viewports when you try to copy them to the clipboard

Is layer VPORT off, or frozen in the layout viewport?

Did you paste as block in layout 2, then cupy that blck and paste a nested block into layout 3?

everything is on & nothing is frozen in any of the layouts. I tried pasteing as a block and as an object, I can't even paste into the same layout I copied it from. It simple will not copy a viewport, everything else it will just not a viewport.

And you're quite sure that AFTER you've pasted the viewport, you have turned it on?

Post the file.

Lose everything, but the layouts and viewports.

Is the VPORT layer locked?

Don't feel too bad, if so. 🙂

I'm currently having this same problem. The viewport layer is on and unlocked. The viewport is on. I have verified that the copy function is working by drawing a line on the same layer as the viewport and that line will copy and paste fine, but the viewport never gets to the clipboard.

Thank you
