Can One Use Blocks to Trim?

A2Ki.

I just used a block (dock door) to trim out a wall. I know I did not
explode it. I arrayed the door 2 more times. They won't let me trim! Can
you or can you not use a block to trim? I cannot find this in Help.

Your responses are very much appreciated!

I've run into trouble trimming to block entities if they are not in same
ucs.

Right along with this problem (intermitten block trims) is the fact that
when I try to draw a line from an endpoint within the block, the beginning
of my new line jumps to some other arbitrary endpoint elsewhere in the
block! The same one each time, but not the endpoint I chose! Please, can
someone tell me whats wacky here? I don't wanna explode everything to draw.

Anyone else seen this????

Thanks for your comeback. That makes me think something is wrong with mine.

Seems like your ucs is not parallel to your view.

I did put the original metes and bounds in World ucs then drew in the bld in
another ucs (saved as BLD) but the blocks are being inserted into the BLD
ucs (which is just a few seconds of a degree off from WORLD), same as the
walls I am trying to trim. Plus there is the fact that when I try to draw a
line from an endpoint in a block it jumps to start at another endpoint
within the block. All elevations are 0.

Checked. After I set BLD ucs I entered PLAN. Everything seems as it should
be. After further testing I am finding that only one entity in my personnel
door is "live" and will trim while still a block. Also, it is the only
entity that a new line will jump to when I start a line from another
endpoint within the block. This is crazy. I've gone into the block dwg and
checked BASE, ELEV, UCS etc... I don't understand.

Do you have Express Tools loaded? There are Express Tools to extend or trim to blocks.
