I've been creating BOM's that are linked to Excel and everything works fine except that it takes over 3 minutes to create a new Excel Data Link in the Link Manager.  This seems like and excessive amount of time.

I've tried this on two machines and both take forever.  I've also compared local and networked files and found no difference.

In viewing performance in Task Manager both Autocad and Excel have a lot of CPU usage during the process, more than what you would expect (35-50% usage for 3 minutes).

I'm running XP SP 3, 2.4g processor, 3g memory

Am I missing something or is this typical?
