Hello

My Stingray Shader FX material is looking terrible - like black glossy bricks (see attached).  It is supposed to be red bricks...can anybody tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks

Hello @Hugh_Compton,

I'd like to help with this issue.  Which version of 3ds Max are you using?  (2017 I presume)  There are some missing textures in here, is it possible to attach those?

Hello

I've attached the original image and the missing textures.

On the ShaderFX material in Max I added the following:

Normal Map: Bitmap2Material_3_Normal

Color Map: Bitmap2Material_3_Base_Color

A0_map: Bitmap2Material_3_Ambient_Occlusion

Roughness Map: Bitmap2Material_3_Roughness

I used the original image (Original Brick Image) to generate the textures in Algorithmic's Bitmap2Material 3.1.

I am using 3DS Max 2017.  The units are mm (system units inches).

Hello @Hugh_Compton,

I'm finding the zip file to be empty here, can you please re-upload?  Something weird must have happened.  Thanks for doing that!

Brilliant! Thank you ever so much.  I have attached the revised Max file and all of the textures used.

You are right about the textures, something is wrong. The grout is raised when it should be sunk. I have attached a screenshot from B2M.  It would be great if you could comment on any tweaks to improve the B2M to Max Stingray textures workflow.

Thanks again.

Hello @Hugh_Compton,

I'm glad it worked out!  Now, I'm not supposed to give much artistic advice so I have to stay technical, and I don't know a lot about B2M but I'll give you my 2 thoughts!

1) Maybe remove the spec DDS global spec cube (or use a darker one) in 3ds max because the bricks are coming across too shiny.  I couldn't "remove" it, but I replaced it with a flat 2x2 image of black and the shine went away.  You could go up to white and get the shine back if you loved it.

2) In B2M, I *think* the "Relief" area is where you can adjust the directionality of the normal direction.  It's been a while since I used B2M but I'm pretty sure it's in relief.

I hope that helps and I hope your project comes out great!
