Curve Editor Wheel Zoom

I recently updated my computer to Windows 10 from 8.1, which allowed me to keep everything installed. However I seem to have a problem Zooming in on the Curve Editor by scrolling my mouse wheel. I'm trying to find out if it is a 3DS Max 2016 problem or a mouse driver problem.

So far I can pan, zoom, and rotate in the orthographic view windows, even the unwrap window which, when researching for a solution, I have read can also have a problem. I can also pan in the curve editor. I can zoom in the curve editor if I use the ctrl+alt+mmb and drag however just scrolling the wheel does not work. If I remember correctly I could do this before I updated from Windows 8.1. I think I have checked every hotkey setting I could find and everything looks normal.

I still haven't found an answer. It really slows down my workflow using the hotkeys. Does anyone have suggestions or maybe a palce for me to look?

Hi,

sorry for late reply.

It is currently a known issue for Windows 10 and I do not know any work arounds for the zooming using the mouse wheel inside the curve editor.

Although the other max shortcut keys do work, meaning using ctrl+alt + press middle mouse button/wheel to zoom; as in viewport.

I have the same issue in Windows 10 and using the ctrl+alt+ mmb to zoom.

Sorry for the inconviences 😕

Thank you for the reply. Now I know I'm not the only one and that I didn't mess something up in the process of updating. I have been using ctrl+alt+mmb in the mean time, I'm glad I found that hotkey.

No problem! 🙂

You are not 'alone' !

Windows 10 changed lots of stuff that unfortunatly 'broke' some user friendly functionalities in Max 😞

Hi again,

for anyone else that may have this issue in Windows 10, trying to use the mouse wheel to zoom.

There is an Option in Windows 10 that affects this behavior in Max track view.

In Settings > Mouse & touchepad > Scroll inactive windows when I hover them

Default is set to On.

Setting it to Off will re-enable the mouse wheel zoom in the track view.

Again, sorry for the inconveniences this can have

So, will there be a fix for this in upcoming releases?  I assume this is only a temporary workaround as it kills the ability to scroll other applications without selecting them first.
