Viewport Not Working: FTL Error

Hi all,

Ok, so I have been using 3ds Max 2014 on my Windows 7 Ultimate PC for a year with no problems. Yesterday I upgraded to Windows 8.1 Pro and re-installed 3ds Max and now I am getting the following error on startup: FTL: Virtual device creation failed. Viewports are just blank.

I get the error when using Nitrous DirectX 11 (or any Nitrous Driver). If I change to Legacy Direct X it works fine. Problem is, my rig has not hanged at all and I used to be able to use Nitrous DirectX 9 for my display! So why can I not use it now?

PC Details:

Windows 8.1 Pro

Intel Xeon Processor (2.7GHz)

2 x nVidia GTX 780 GPU's (all updated to latest drivers [340.52])

32 Gb RAM

All help would be greatly appreciated!!
