Skinning Conversion Tool

Hello all,

In 3DS Max 2010 there was a utility that allowed a mesh with a physique modifier to be converted to skin while keeping all the weights/animations intact. It was the Skinning Conversion Tool and it doesn't exist in the 2012 version. Does anyone know if the does actually does exist or where I can find it?

I haven't looked at that tool since about max four. If it is in 2010 then save your file back from 2012 to 2010, convert to the skin modifier. When you reopen the file in 2012 if there are any issues from porting it back to 2010 then you can just save the skin weights and add the son modifier in the original 2012 file and load the weights.

Physique2Skin always was an external plugin, which one had to download from Autodesk and not distributed with Max. Since a few Max versions David Baker from maxplugin.de took the burden to recompile it to new versions ...

here is the Max 2012 recompile to download

http://www.maxplugins.de/r2012_files/autodesk/phy2skin_Max2012.zip

and of course:
BIG thanks go to David Baker 😉

Max 2010 Plugins are compatbile with Max 2011 ( with some exceptions )

In general, it's worth a million knowing David Bakers site
http://www.maxplugins.de/

It contains almost all of the freeware plugins for all Max versions
