Save modifier status in scene state: is possible?

Is possible to save a modifier status to a scene state?

For ex. turn slice modifier on/off automatically in
different scene states.

thank you...

I don't know if there's an easy way to do that - it certainly doesn't seem to work at present. However, if you're on Subscription, then take a look at the new "state sets" which will (should) be in an SAP (Subscription-only Advantage Pack) due the end of this month.

thanks Steve.
Hope state sets risolve this, because it's useful...

Well, looking at the videos, the State Sets record changes pretty much anywhere in Max, so it seems to me it should work. Unless they forgot about enabling/disabling modifiers of course 😉

Bummer - I just installed the SAP and tried this. The State Sets don't appear to record Modifier Enable/Disable operations 😞

An alternative would be to move the Slice Plane away from the object, that at the correct frame move it back (animated) over 1 frame and change the keys to Step. That would have a similar effect to turning it on.

You can use a scripted state to handle that as part of the state set. R-Click the State Set > Add Scripted State. In that scripted state use maxscript to disable the needed modifier.

I know "scripted states" are available but I haven't had chance to investigate them yet.

I'll have a look later.

if scripted states resolve this will be awesome, because
I am in the middle of huge batch rendering jobs
with a lot of modifiers tweakings...

the problem is to download the SAP...

It does.
The attached script was applied byt simply adding a Scripted State to State01 - forces the Slice Modifier off (disabled).
The other half of the script ensures it is Enabled for all other states.

Obviously a very simple, quick'n'dirty test, but does prove that it works.

I am back again 🙂

O I understood how to make state sets to work with scripted states.

But my question remains the same:

Is possible to integrate a state set into a scene state?

So for.ex. if I do a batch render, everytime my scene state changes,
changes automatically also the state set.

thank you again
