Revit- Max design interoperability not working

Hi Forum,

We have a subscription to Autodesk 2014, have already installed the Revit Interoperability for 3dsmax Design 2014 update release, and still we can not use the revit to max design linking system.

We do not get an error report, instead the program gets stuck on "linking to revit" and eventually stops without doing anything.

We have tried from both programs (Revit Suite Work-flow -- to 3dsmax exterior rendering and 3dsmax design -- import link Revit) but neither of them works.

Has any one else had a similar experience, or know what the solution could be?

I have scoured the forum and online, but can't find anything on the subject (other than installing the Interoperability update, which we have already done.) Any pointers on the matter would be incredibily helpful!!! Thank you

To check if the issue is with the existing project files, you could create a new 3DS and Revit project, add some simple geometry, and then try linking.

If this fails, there may be an issue with the installation of 3DS or Revit, and you could try Repairing them (in the Programs and Features Control Panel).

I am having a similar problem.

I am running revit 2014 and wanting to link my models to 3ds Max 2013. Every time I try to link I get an error saying "the revit file failed to load." (See below.)

I have the interoperability update installed for 2013 and am going to try with the install of the update for 2014. If this doesn't work, what am I missing? Is the issue using 2014 revit and 2013 3ds?

Please any help would be wonderful!!!!

Thanks, Ian

Hi. You ask: "Is the issue using 2014 revit and 2013 3ds?"

Yes. I pretty sure that's the case. Max needs to be the same version or newer.

So if I upgrade to Revit 2015 and keep 3ds max 2014 there's no way of making a link from 3ds max to Revit? Do I also have to buy 3ds max 2015 in order to keep my workflow?
