Render Elements causes a crash when I try to add a pass

Hi Everyone.

This started recently, it might be the addition of Deadline but though I would check in here before going to their forum.

Render Elements causes a crash when I try to add a pass, doesn't matter which render engine I try. Just started a few days ago.

Might have coincided with our company testing Deadline.

Thanks ahead of time

Mike K

This just bit us hard. From out of nowhere it seems, one of our artists started getting this crash today.

Running 3ds max 2015 and Windows 10 x64.

The only thing we did yesterday was installed Wacom drivers. So we uninstalled them again and max is working as it should again.

Crappy Wacom drivers does it again I guess.

I had the First beta installed. Removed it and the crash went away.

Stinking Wacom! Updating drivers hasn't worked yet, but unplugging does... Thanks!

Same Wacom troubles here - crashes each time until the Cintiq monitor is turned off. Worked fine pre-upgrade to Windows10 under Windows8.1 though.

Same problem here

maybe another SP for 2014 can solve it since no such problem on 2016?

does anybody tried to contact Wacom to resolve?

Yeah I have repported it to Wacom and they are working on it with Autodesk. I've sent them crashdumps and helping them in every way I can. I sent them the link to this thread as well.

Is there any fix for this, it's an absolute nightmare?

Wacom has investigated and came to the conclusion that it's a 3ds Max bug so Wacom won't fix it. Autodesk has to fix it in a new SP (which will probably never happen)

I have the same problem but I don't have a Wacom and never had... has anyone discovered another solution?

I´m running 3ds max 2015 and Windows 10 x64 too.

I had this same issue, except I do not have a Wacom, or a tablet PC. I was able to resolve it by going to the task manager, and closing the "Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel" task. Hope this helps!

Great solution! works for me, and it is apparently not a wacom issue at all.

thank you for sharing!
