Max2016 - Select and link auto inherit

Since Max2016, I can't get on with linking at all - It's a total nightmare.

When linking one object to another, the scale (for example) isn't inherited relatively. So basically any linking rescales, moves and rotates the objects as it sees fit.

A simple example: Make two spheres the same size. Scale one up (150%). Link the 100% sphere to the 150% sphere and boom. The 100% sphere scales up to the size of 150% but is still at 100% internally. You now have two spheres the same visual size, one at 100% and one at 150%.

..Now of course this might end up in a discussion about hierarchy, transform inheritance, and good practices but fundamentally working in this enforced way is really painfull - I MUCH preffered how it was in all previous versions.

Can anyone please confirm that this has been deliberately changed since max2015 please?

i can reproduce this with SP2... Strange!

Maybe it's related to: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/3ds-max-3ds-max-design-general/grouping-or-linking-causes-objects-to-f... ?

Same problem here.

Complete nightmare virtually impossible to work 😞

Has something been changed or is it a bug? Is there a hidden flag somewhere?

Is anyone not having this problem?

Same problem here, it's really frustrating! I'm uninstalling SP2 and EXT2 until this is fixed. I just can't work with Max because of it.
