Inventor Model Imports as 1 object

Let me first say I'm new to 3ds Max.  I've tried searching the forums for an answer to my problem and have not found anything.  I'm using the 2014 suite of tools.  My problem is that when I try to import an Inventor assembly I only get one object of the whole assembly instead of multiple objects for each part in the assembly.  Since I'm just learning Max, I've started with a super simple model.

The Inventor Assembly is a 4 bar linkage.  The assembly has 4 part files and no subassemblies.  I import to 3ds and the scene shows the assembly but when I try to select one of the links I get the whole assembly selected.  How can I have the assembly import as 4 separate bodies?  Is there a different selection method I should be using?

Thanks,

Nate

Hi Nathan, to be able to use properly your inventor assembly you will have to choose Group, then, the Ungroup option, in the main menu of 3dsMax 2014.

Tell us if this help, I'll add a slide about it.

Best regards

I figured it was something simple, I just needed a little direction.  Thanks for the response. This works great and I can see why the model should be imported as a group.  I can imagine building a large scene and having everything grouped together would help for placement and what not.

Thanks Again,

Nate
