Hide selected / unhide all not working with keyboard shortcut HELP!!

Hi!

I have just installed Max2017 and was happy until i customized my keyboardshortcuts.

I am using freeze selected on "1" key

unfreeze all on "2" and they work

but no key is working with hide selected and unhide all!!!!! and that is a problem for me because i use those million times a day.

(of course did i check /uncheck the keyboard override button)

i have also tried to load my old 2016 keyboard layout but anything hide-related is broken

any idea, because without this max2017 is useless for me ;(((

HI!

WOW! I am very happy!

The problem was solved with the help of a very friendly and knowledable autodesk service member!!!

it was actually related to problems loading the custom keyboard.kbdx file!!

it seems that windows 10 did not like to load and write stuff in my user profile (even as the administrator)

we saved to the desktop and reloaded the .kbdx and BAEEEMMMM it works!!

THANKS A MILLION AUTODESK!

Hi Daniel,

So glad I could help earlier! What we were seeing (or not seeing) was the shortcuts/hotkeys trying to work at the Sub-Object level, i.e. hiding vertices, polys, etc. within the object. This would have only been usable had we been in the Sub-Object mode in the Modify panel. (I have further tested and it did work at both Object and Sub-Object levels) 🙂

The Actions for Sub-Object level control are similarly and identically named "Hide Selected" and "Unhide All." As promised, here is a recap of the steps to create working Hide Selection and Unhide All custom hotkeys at the Object level:

  1. Go to Customize User Preferences > Keyboard > Group: Main UI > Category: Tools. Please note, if you assign the shortcut under the All Commands category, you may assign to a similar Action (Unhide All or Hide Selected) used at the Sub-Object level.
  2. Select the Actions in the list you would like to assign hotkeys for and enter the desired shortcut.
  3. Save the new Customized UI.
  4. Load the new Customized UI. Hide Selection and Unhide All hotkeys for Object level should be working properly.

Thanks again and glad this resolved the issue for you! 😄

Big thanks again Dominique! 😉

Well it seems to me that Windows10 "read only on everything"  is the actualy reason for my trouble.

We have local Usermanagment with normal user and admin accounts (we had a server for this before under Windows7)

So Windows set all programms and especially the autodesk 3dsmax folder to read only...

I am using an admin account but i still dondt have admin rights to write stuf.... ehhmm ..yeah... great stuff microsoft! This is so stupid and stupid and even ubersuper stupid...

After saving and reloading the keyboardshortcut file from desktop, everything worked.. so i am now removing every freaking read only nonsense on my workstation.

So thanks again for solving that mysterie and best regards, Daniel! 😉
