Exporting DAE very slow

Hi,

I did not have this problem with 3dsmax 2014

when I want to export to DAE, max sometimes takes 15 to 20 minutes to save a simple object.
at the bottom there is the progress bar with "initialization" and it is very very long.

sometimes freeze and crash

when i export to obj or fbx, there is no problem, only DAE

I lose enormously time with it....

I have re-install max 2014 and the DAE export is done in 2 seconds
i think there is a bug or other in 2015

Please ensure you report this through the proper channels, i.e. the Defect Report Submission Form or click Help > Speak Back > Report a Problem (goes to the same page). Make sure you have a small example max scene and step-by-step instructions on how to recreate the problem.

Max 2016 (SP1/EXT1)
Win7Pro x64 (SP1). i5-3570K @ 4.4GHz, 8Gb Ram, DX11.
nVidia GTX760 (2GB) (Driver 430.86).

Same problem with full student version of 2016. My second attempt to export has been going on for nearly 30 minutes, windows says program is not responding but the task manager shows it is still working.

Problem persist even after installing Service Pack 1.
Its really annoying, I'm wasting a huge amount of time here.

Anyone check if this is still an issue with 3ds Max 2018? I am debating weather to upgrade.

Yup. It is same in 2018 as in 2017 and 2016. I just tested.

I just reported it as a bug in 2018, for whatever that might be worth. I literally stood up to go make breakfast, ate, sat back down and my 471k poly scene was still exporting. The same scene exported in FBX took less than 10 seconds. Unfortunately, I need .dae.

Bumping this up because i'm thinking about upgrading. Is this still a problem in 2018 and 2019?

Thanks.

This is STILL an issue with 3ds max 2017 with latest SP and updates..
Did anyone try higher versions or managed to find a solution?

We are paying a lot of money for this software but this bug does still exist over YEARS. So we are also thinking about upgrading but only if fixed in higher versions.

6 years later, since I found, during your DAE export if you check "Split per vertex normal"
the export will be very long depending on the complexity of your object
