Can I save a mesh from the populate system?

Like the title says is there a way to save a single mesh from the populate feature?

Also are there other premade meshes available? Such as beach people etc..

Tom

Select a figure, right-click, convert to editible mesh. Delete the animation keys and you have the mesh.

As for other figures, I dont' believe so.

You could also go to the Tools Menu >> Snapshot.

It will create a copy of the mesh in that exact position, leaving the populate character. That is helpful so you could keep scrubbing your animation and saving different poses.

Hi there,

The "x" key and snapshot function are the easiest way to do it, here is a video link about it:

Kind regards

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the help! I do a lot of test renders for my work and it is nice to know I can move a single person to a position that has the same rendering features. What a time saver.

Are there other figure types available yet? beach, kids, old people, etc..

Tom

Hi Tom,

There is no kids and special character models or animations like climbing etc... right now.

There is an useful link for wish list for improvement in 3dsMax:

Best regards.

Add a mesh select to the character and export it as FBX. If you want to save the animation add a point cache modifier and record the objects animation
