3ds max on windows server

hello, i have 3 server blades (IBM) each one have more then 12 cores and 12 GB ram. and windows server 2008R2 installed on them
which 3Ds max version should i buy that will work ,
ps: i want to use them as render farm for DR with vRay

You don't need to put/buy a license for the render blades...FYI

You won't actually have much choice - Autodesk don't sell previous versions.

Unless you buy the current version, and subscription, and request them, and even then you can only get 2 or 3 prior ones.

well if i buy 2011 will it work on windows server 2003/2008?? that's the question. is it compatible? vray spwaner will try to run in server mode, will it run? because i've heard 3ds max crashes when running in server mode
