3ds Max newbee

I am new to 3ds Max and currently using 3ds Max 2015 trial. it's been three days since i started and i haven't been able to figure out what's wrong with my viewport. I can't create a box or impoert a revit model, nothing. just a blank viewport. I checked my layers they are all on, my lighting is on, every thing seems normal! I am sure i'm missing  something, so please tell me what i'm doing wrong

the other thing is the view cube, i cant get it on my viewport, i turned it on from the viewport configuration tab but still too shy to show up

Try another graphics mode, there's a start menu entry "Change Graphics Mode".
If you post your system specs you may get confirmed that your hardware is isufficient 🙂

And your system specs? This is vital information - we need to know that your hardware meets the minimum requirements before anything else.
Have you applied the latest Service Pack to Max? Updated your graphics drivers?
