3DS Max 2016 + PhotoshopCC = PSD file locked ?

So, I've came across a rather stupid and annoying bug that I don't have in 3DSmax2015.

If I have a PSD field assigned as a texture to an object in the opened max scene and then open that same file in Photoshop, I can no longer save and overwrite the file. It says that the file is opened by some other application. Which is technicaly true, but I never had that problem before.

I used to edit/paint/modify PSD textures freely, save, alt+tab to max and just wait for the texture tu update. Painless, as it should be, but not anymore 😞

My collegue has the same issue. Does anyone else has this problem? Or maybe a workaround?

Thx.

Don't use PS anymore (goodbye Adobe) but when 3ds Max 2012 (?) came out is had a bug this thread reminded me of. In that case, files created by MAXScript were locked and couldn't even be executed (in the case of a batch file) until Max closed. That was a bug that only a hotfix or service pack fixed.

Hello! I have same issue with SP3 while using distributed rendering with mental ray Smiley Frustrated

How to reproduce:

1. Setup distributed rendering in mental ray

2. create object and assign material with psd texture on it

3. render

4. try to make changes in psd and save it photoshop - and you will still get error.

SP3 installed on both machines.

maybe any workaround?
