3ds Max 2013 Materials Library

Hi all,
I've just started learning to use 3ds Max, I'm using the autodesk approved tutorials to do this.

I would appear to be missing the materials library maps or part of them, under the "maps" drop down in the "Slate Material Editor" I appear to be missing the "mental ray" drop down & maps & also the "MetaSL", can anyone shed some light on this for me.

Cheers,
Andy

That is probably be cause you have Scanline or other non-mr/metaSL compatible renderer assigned. Change to mental ray, or enable "Show Incompatible" from the drop-down arrow next to the Search by name box.

Which tutorial? If you have downloaded the tutorial files, then you need to set your Project Folder to be the folder you extracted them to, and start the tutorials using the provided scenes. They should be set up correctly (with Mental Ray as the renderer, in this case) so you shouldn't run into that particular problem.
