Hi. I don't think that max2010 is compatible with windows 7. Take a look at the system requirements here: http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/3ds-max/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/System-...

You should also check all updates for Max2010 to see if any of them concern windows 7 compatibility.

Hope it helps

Hello,

3ds Max 2010 was officially tested and certified for Windows XP and Vista, not Windows 7 or 8.

This link contains info on current and past versions and what Operating Systems they are supported on.

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/3ds-max/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/System-...

You should always stick to the Operating Systems that specific versions of 3ds Max have been certified on,
for full functionality and stable performance.

However if you want to try and run an older version on a newer unsupported OS, maybe verify you also have
latest updates for 2010.

No guarantees it will work but worth a try,  installing latest service pack as per above.

Best Regards

VR

oops forgot another tip, maybe disable any Windows Aero and fancy desktop transparencies.

The older versions of 3ds Max used to have issues with those newer options in Windows.
Also disable User Account Control in Windows.
