32 vs. 64 bit - for quicktime 360 degree panormaic viewing (with vray)

we have a user who is using their old machine because it has 32 bit, 2011 3DS max for creating .mov files with VRAY.  this is because they insist only those files allow quicktime to allow 360 degree panormaic viewing.  Apparently, quicktime does not allow for this in the files generated by 64 bit versions of 3ds max and vray.  i gueested different file fomats / viewers - our user says they've tried different viewers, etc. - and none work.  they believe it's because quicktime is 32 bit.

it looks like it's the quicktimeVR export option from Max they're using.

has anyone ran into this?

Yes, Max 64 does not export QT, movies or VR, it's welll known. You have to use 32bit for that. You can have both versions installed without an extra license. Or use some other software for encoding.

You pretty much guessed correctly. Since there is no 64-bit version of Quicktime and the required codecs, you cannot create them directly from any 64-Bit version of 3ds Max.

It's unfortunate I agree.
