Smooth + Highlight

I am going crazy trying to find (Smooth + Highlight). The instructions say to change the viewport shading mode to Smooth + Highlight in the tutorials. When I press F3 on my keyboard it doesn't do a thing. Can someone please tell me how to get the shading mode to SMOOTH + HIGHLIGHT? TThank You from a very frustrated individual. I am working on 3ds Max Design 2014. My O/S is Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit.

I think your viewport render setting is Nitrous.

Change setting to Direct3D or OpenGL, then Smooth + Highlight menu  will see.

Customize - Preferences - Viewports - Choose Driver (select style you want...)

and restart 3dsmax.

I think Smooth + Highlight is disabled in Nitrous.

Also check if your F Lock is on with your keyboard.

Except that you don't need it. The Nitrous "Shaded" mode is virtually the same as the old "Smooth+Highlights". You're needlessly losing all the benefits of Nitrous by using the old driver.
