Here is my dilemma:
From Inventor, I need a obj file to be able to use in After Effects.
This part is composed of multiple parts and assemblies. All with different materials.
To be able to do this, I have been importing and exporting through 3DS Max.
Once in 3DS Max, I assign each part a different material.
Once I export it to obj and open it in After Effects, the parts aren’t separated according to their material like they were in 3DS Max. Some parts are grouped together and they shouldn’t be.
I’ve tried each part having a different material and on a different layer. That also didn’t work. Then I moved everything on 1 layer, and no success.
Anyone know how to make sure each part is separated when opening in After Effects?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Instead of exporting the iam to 3ds max, and then after effects,
I downloaded a plugin for inventor that allows straight export to obj.
I was then able to edit all of the different materials for each part in after effects.
There is no need to use 3ds max to do this.
