I have AutoCAD 2014 and 3DS MAX 2014. AutoCAD 2014 has geolocation features that lets me load aerial images in real time from Bing Maps website. If 3DS MAX doesn't have geolocation features, is there an add-on that adds geolocation features to 3DS MAX or a different Autodesk program with geolocation features?
Hi,
Maybe this script can be of help: http://www.klaasnienhuis.nl/2012/09/import-kml-files-in-3ds-max/
I never used it, just remembered I saw it some time ago...
Hope it helps,
Tudor
The script at http://www.klaasnienhuis.nl/2012/09/import-kml-files-in-3ds-max/ imports lines and polygons only. It doesn't import aerial images.
If you are using 3DS max design. If your terrain is a mesh. Select the mesh go to the Civil View explorer and you can drape aerial photography onto the terrain model.
Hi,
In the meanwhile I've developed the script which imports KML data into something more capable. It's called Maproom and you can sign up for the beta. http://www.klaasnienhuis.nl/2016/01/maproom-beta-started/
Maproom allows you to create terrains with elevation data and drape satellite images on it.
