All arrows of gizmo only moving on one axis

Hi all,

I'm trying to drag out an edge and all of a sudden the only axis I can move on, whichever arrow of the gizmo I use, is the Z-axis. I want to drag out the edge on the X-axis and all I can do is move it up and down. Help!

My guess is you have turned off the transform gizmo. CTRL+SHIFT+X will turn it back on.

Hi Paul, thanks for your reply. Unfortunately no joy, but I've made a video showing exactly what happens.

Ah you are extruding an edge? Do you have edge constraints turned on?

Ah, that did it! What does edge constraints do exactly?

Keeps the verts that are being moved constrained to the edges that they are connected to. Great for sliding the verts over the existing surface. There is also a face and normal constraint as well.
