Hi, its maybe funny problem, but I am noob, than I am loking for any help.
I make 3D text in 3DS max. Simple 3D text without any lights, materials and any oteher effects. Everything going fine until I am trying export file to collada (dae). My collada file is too big. Three small words has 2 - 3 MB. I don t know, how to optimize this files to less than 1 mb.
Any tutorial? Please, not video tutorial, my english is bad. Thank you.
Hi,
I just did a quick experiment...
I made an extruded text object ..using the words "just some text"
I exported to Collada and was sized at 628 KB.
The only thing I can think of is..you either increased the density of the mesh by changing the interpolation settings for the base text (For example, I set the interpolation to adaptive and the file size went up to 1.07MB) .or you are exporting more than just the text. Each letter will obviously add to the total and letters with curves ( s, b, g etc) will generate more vertices than straight ones (i, l, v etc.)
3MB doesn't sound like a large file to me..
Hope this helps
